The School Among Snow Leopards, a significant component of the Jomolhari Snow Leopard Conservation Program, is nestled in primary snow leopard habitat. The school is testament to the fact that concerted efforts combining elements of education, conservation, community development, and livelihood sustainability can go a long way towards ensuring the survival of this enigmatic cat.

 

The notoriously elusive snow leopard is found above the tree line among shrublands, high gorges, inland cliffs, and rocky areas of the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Park.

The snow leopard is classified as one of the most vulnerable species by IUCN. Today, less than 6,000 cats are found in the wild.
